Buildblur sets no cookies and runs no advertising trackers. It uses your browser’s storage for a working copy of your account, so the studio is fast and works offline, and for a random id that lets us count visits without knowing who you are.
What we store in your browser
| Storage | What’s in it | Why |
|---|---|---|
| IndexedDB | A copy of your projects, scenes, characters, world notes, versions and authorship record from your account | So the studio opens fast, saves as you type and works offline. Removed when you sign out |
| Local storage | Settings and preferences, your sign-in session, and which account this browser’s copy belongs to | So you stay signed in, and one person’s work never shows up in another’s account |
| Local storage | A random id (bb_aid) and whether you’ve switched usage counts off | So anonymous usage counts can tell one visitor from many, without a cookie and without knowing who you are |
| Session storage | A note that you’ve entered the studio in this tab | So the tab stays in the studio |
| Cache storage | A copy of the site’s pages and files | So the studio opens faster and works offline |
All of it is strictly necessary for the features you use and isn’t used to track you. That’s why there’s no cookie banner.
Other companies
Our typefaces are served from our own site, so no font service sees your visit. Usage counts go to our own database, not to an analytics company, and we never add advertising trackers.
Removing it
Signing out clears it. You can also clear it in your browser’s settings (“site data” for buildblur.com); your account keeps your work, but anything written while the account service was unreachable and not yet sent would be lost.
